The bustling marketplace was a symphony of noise and smells. He pushed through the crowd, a tight knot forming in his stomach. He was searching for Jessica. He finally saw her by a stall selling spices, her hair pulled back in a braid, a familiar smile on her face.

He drew a shaky breath. He felt his pulse quicken. He worked his way toward her. “Jessica?” he called out, his voice barely audible above the din. She turned, her expression curious.
